This post is an experiment in real time worship, songwriting and living out loud. Wrote a simple song this morning during my personal worship time. Threw it down on Quicktime Movie. Boom, now it’s up on Youtube and on this blog post.
Song: Honor & Majesty
Time for the return of Songs for Saturday, today featuring “Honor and Majesty”. It was inspired by the imagery of Psalm 96.
“Honor and majesty are before him,
strength and beauty are in his sanctuary” Psalm 96:6
What Words Can’t Say
Saturday’s free song is “What Words Can’t Say. “
A prayer, a declaration … a veritable theological treatise.
See the free download links at the bottom of this post.
What Words Can’t Say
Verse 1:
I come before you Lord, to be with You today
I’m listening for Your voice
what wisdom would you say ?
I want a deeper union beyond religious clichés
Spirit of the Living God, You’re groaning for me today
I know You pray – what words can’t say:
Chorus: Oh oh oh …
Song for Holy Saturday: “Jesus”
Today is Holy Saturday. Many traditions use this as a day of rest, reflection, and anticipation. Cause Sunday’s coming.
[For some thoughtful provocation check out my post on Good Friday.]
Jesus
This song is from the project What Words Can’t Say. It’s about the identity of Christ. I hope it encourages you to reflect on Him today. We’ll make it a free download for the rest of April.
The beautiful string section, by the way, is the AMAZING one man orchestra Christopher Lowry. Yea, we did a lot of overdubs. In my basement. Studio, that is. Amazing what you can do with technology these days.

Yeshua, A Song for Palm Sunday
Most Saturday’s I’m posting a song. Today’s is “Yeshua”.
- It’s based on the Triumphal Entry. Jesus told the people of Israel “you will not see me again until you say ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord’ ” (Matthew 23:39).
- It’s another example of my Davidic approach to writing and leading worship. Kind of a Country-Jewish-Dire Straits sound with antiphonal lyrics.
- We’ve also had a lot of fun with this as a processional song for Palm Sunday with kids.

Scripture Song: Lift Up Your Heads / King of Kings
Here’s a simple “call and response” scripture song based on Psalm 24
Here’s a live worship video of “Lift Up Your Heads”combined with another song “King of Kings”.
- “Lift Up” is straight ahead antiphonal singing the NIV translation of Psalm 24 verses 7-10.
- “King” is a compilation of several spontaneous riffs created over many seasons of worshiping with this song.
- This a pretty good example of my Davidic approach to writing and leading worship.
- We’ve also had a lot of fun with this as a processional song for Palm Sunday.

Well here’s some “exclusive content”, I’m posting live video of 2 songs today, Arise Oh Lord and The Shema.
Arise Oh Lord
This is a spontaneous song recorded live last time I led @ Belmont Church. It just “happened” as an intro to The Shema, so we rolled with it.
Greatest Worship Song Ever ?
An Important Video Announcement
“It’s All About Me” … coming soon to a hymnal near you.
