To be authentic, we got to keep it real. For many, the holiday season means more stress than joy. The busy-ness, the expectations, and the pressure can be overwhelming. It’s exacerbated if you’re also processing significant loss or pain.
Been there, done that, round two …
Four suggestions for adding hope to your holidays.
Like the rest of the world, I’m sad at the news of Steve Jobs passing. Was he a follower of Jesus Christ? I don’t know. But his too-short 56 years made a profound difference in the world. He propelled a huge vision and made the world a better place.
To commemorate, I’m posting a song I first wrote for my brother-in-laws wedding, “Unity”. I’ve sung this at my parents 50th anniversary and other weddings too.
This is just a demo recording, but it gets the idea across. It’s today’s free download.
Last week I started doing a 90 day blog shape-up program called BlogX through the ultra helpful Tentblogger . Everyday there are strenuous blogging assignments designed to build up “blogging muscles” under the guise of super sensei John Saddington.
The biggest benefit of BlogX so far is I’ve been forced to “ship” faster and more frequently. That’s cool.
I met the founder and totally cool guy Ken Steorts in Hungary a few years ago where I was Director of Worship for the Sozo International Music and Arts Festival. I was invited to share about my experiences in music entrepreneurship and worship ministry. Yes, an unusual combination, but that’s my story.
My talk was about how I started out producing music for advertising, built a successful business, and transitioned into worship ministry. When I got out of college with a music degree, there was not a clear path to figure out how to make a living doing it. I shared some timeless and universal principles I learned. I’ll feature these in a blog series “Principles for Starting Out in Business.”
