Light of the world you stepped down into darkness, opened my eyes, made me see. Here I am to worship! [Sunrise May 1 2013]

Happy May Day!  I’m so blessed by all God is revealing in this devotional series, hope you are too!

Day 31 Just as He Told You

6 but the angel said, “Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Look, this is where they laid his body. Now go and tell his disciples, including Peter, that Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there, just as he told you before he died.  Mark 16:6-7 (NLT)

During this 40 day period when Jesus was sharing life with his friends and followers, they had to be processing all they  learned from him before he died.

This was the paradigm shift of paradigm shifts. Now all of his words, all of his teaching had a new perspective – one of absolute authority.

Jesus was not only absolutely right, he was absolutely trustworthy. His word was better than money in the bank.

Day 27 What Are You Waiting For?

“What comes next is very important: I am sending what my Father promised to you, so stay here in the city until he arrives, until you’re equipped with power from on high.” Luke 24:49

In this resurrection appearance, Jesus has encouraged the disciples and given them an audacious mission. Then he tells them their next step is not to “get out there and go for it”.

No, they are to wait.

Timing is important. Maybe timing is everything. Doing the right thing at the wrong time never works.

Day 25 Start With Jerusalem

Scripture also says that by the authority of Jesus people would be told to turn to God and change the way they think and act so that their sins will be forgiven. This would be told to people from all nations, beginning in the city of Jerusalem. Luke 24:47 GOD’S WORD® Translation (©1995)

Proclaim Repentance and Forgiveness: Easter – Pentecost #23

Repentance and forgiveness will totally change your life. Tell somebody the good news. Luke24:47 [Sunrise photo April 23 2013]

Repentance and forgiveness will totally change your life. Tell somebody the good news. Luke24:47 [Sunrise photo April 23 2013]

Day 23 Proclaim Repentance and Forgiveness of Sins

45 Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46 and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, 47 and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. Luke 24:45-48

Jesus explained to the disciples, from the scriptures, why he had to suffer and die as the fulfillment of God’s promise.  He showed how all humanity could now be brought into right relationship with the Holy One.

His resurrection was irrefutable proof. He knew what He was talking about. He was the ultimate authority.

In the same sentence Jesus commissioned his followers to proclaim repentance and forgiveness of sins to all nations.

Love follows through.

Love keeps a promise. Love takes action.

The Power of An Opened Mind: Easter Pentecost Devotional #22

Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2 [Sunrise photo April 22]

Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2 [Sunrise photo April 22]

Day 22 He Opened Their Minds

Then he said, “Everything I told you while I was with you comes to this: All the things written about me in the Law of Moses, in the Prophets, and in the Psalms have to be fulfilled.” (Luke 24:44 MSG )

Then He [thoroughly] opened up their minds to understand the Scriptures (Luke 24:45 AMP)

According to the Encyclopedia of Biblical Prophecy there are a total of 1,817 Biblical prophecies; 1,239 are in the Old Testament, and 578 are in the New Testament. These 1,817 prophecies involve 8,352 of the Bible’s verses. Since there are 31,124 verses altogether in the Bible, the number of prophetic verses amounts to about 27 percent, or one-fourth of the total number of verses in the Bible.

Scholars report over 300 Messianic prophecies about Jesus. These include several dozen major, direct prophecies along with scores and scores of Messianic scriptures that include allusions, hints, types, foreshadowings, and Messianic clues in the Old Testament.

That’s a lot of data.
