January 8 Worship Recap
SUNDAY SETLISTS
Today had to be the largest attendance so far at the new and growing Contemporary Worship service at Hendersonville First United Methodist Church, TN.
God is doing something special here.
For Those Who Mourn
The first two Saturday’s of the new year I’ve attended a funeral. Sadly, both times, of someone far too young.
I have a collection of songs composed either in response to, or anticipation of, death and loss. I’m gathering these together in a collection called “For Those Who Mourn” (free download).
Today’s song is “Requiem for Ben”. Other songs in the project include “Dash on A Tombstone” and “No Easy Answers”, plus some others.

How to Have An Effective Prayer Life
I always find the IHOP Onething Conference to be inspiring and motivating to go deeper with God. On the conference webstream there were a rolling set of excellent Q&A videos. This post shares some thoughts from Mike Bickle answering the question:
How can I have an effective prayer life?
His answer was so simple and easy to apply, anyone can do it.

Happy New Year!
It was a really great service today at HFUMC. We opened with the video “A New Year” based on one of my favorite scriptures.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV
2011 Highlights, Lessons Learned
Dear Blog Readers,
As this year draws to a close, I want to thank you for reading and supporting my blog. This post features highlights and lessons learned from this year. I’m gonna share a little more personally from my story and where I’m at right now.
If the past year had a theme, it would have been “New Beginnings”.
2011 opened amidst the disappointment and disorientation of job and church loss. Fortunately, I was able to secure freelance worship leading, teaching and speaking that kept me booked through out the year.

It’s A Wonderful Life: Reflections

" You see, George, you really had a wonderful life. Don't you see what a mistake it would be to throw it away?"
This Christmas night we continued the family tradition of watching “It’s a Wonderful Life.” We’ve been doing this for 20 plus years and yes, I’ve been the instigator. Call me sentimental, cornball, whatever. To the annoyance of some family members, I can quote most of the lines and yes, I still cry at the end.
